I am hoping to play this for a spring concert and i really need sheet music, any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might be able to find some at an online music store such as Music Books Plus. www.musicbooksplus.com. I’m sure some online sheet music store would have what you are looking for.

You can use my pic above, but I would highly recommend using the one Nejuer made instead. It’s cleaner and easier to work with. The link to it is found in my video response area.

Update 2: I added annotations with the actual notes to the Star Wars and Zelda songs so you can play along.

Here’s a little trick I found out the other day while messing around with my DSi. If you want to try it at home, draw a 3×8 grid and fill in the letters just like I did in the video. Or better yet, just use Nejuer’s picture from my video response section. Goggle sheet music of your favorite song and tap away.

Sorry for the odd edit in the middle there. I screwed up the first try of the Star Wars intro, so I retried it and got it on the next attempt. One try for the Zelda theme though.

“One of the most extraordinary pieces I have ever heard…written by the hand of one of the masters…”

Just in case you’re wondering: I wrote this piece at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho not Moscow, Russia. I’ve never been to Russia, but I imagine the winters in Moscow, Idaho are like Russian winters in some ways.

I have been getting emails from teenagers who say that they love classical music and that people think there is something wrong with them for that. Personally, I find classical music fans enthusiastic about music and how music is made, so I am of the opinion that classical music is here to stay – so why not listen to it?

I studied the classical music of many composers while living in New York City in the mid 1990s. I spent hours at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts looking at scores and borrowing recordings.

I do feel that most classical musicians take themselves too seriously, but I can understand how much pressure they are under playing some of the best music ever composed.

One thing I will say about classical music is that it comes from European cultures which were cruel to “non-Western” countries during the time most classical music was written. I don’t like that part of classical music history, but it’s part of classical music.

The other thing I do not like about classical music is how it ignores the tones BETWEEN notes. Cultures in the Middle East, Asia and Africa all use the notes BETWEEN the notes that are on a piano keyboard. The bend, the slides, none of these nuances are available in almost all classical music.

I love all good music, no matter the genre.

I sat looking through all of the sheet music that I owned. Going back to when I was about sixteen years old. I smiled slightly as I read the crappy lyrics that made up some of my very first songs.
I was trying to find some kind of song that I could renew and play at my first show in a couple of weeks. I sighed, and rubbed my eyes after a couple of hours of reading through, and put a pile back on the desk and then went to make some coffee.

Chris, Melissa, Jack and Melyssa were in the kitchen looking through the refrigerator and cabinets.
“Hey, did you find anything?” Melyssa asked me, and I shrugged.
“Not really, didn’t realise how much crap I’d written over the years”
“Really? I could’ve told you that” Chris said with his head still in the refrigerator.
“Hey, watch it, or I’ll deep-freeze your ass” I told him.
“Whatever”
“What are you guys doing?” I asked confused, and they all shrugged.
“Looking for something to eat and drink” Jack replied. He was standing on one of one of the lower counters, and searching the upper cabinet.
“Why don’t you guys just order in and stop ruining my kitchen?” I asked as I held out my hand to Melyssa, who was sitting on the counter, so she could give me a cup.
“We will if you’re buying, Mr. J” she said, and I shrugged.
“Sure. Here’s money” I said, and pulled out some notes and put them on the counter before pouring my coffee into the cup. “Oh, and new Melissa, don’t be afraid to talk to me, I don’t bite” I said as I left the kitchen, and I chuckled as I could hear Christopher groan.

As I sat down in the chair again with the coffee cup in my hand, I noticed something. There was a sketch lying in between all of the sheets of music. I pulled it out, and saw that there was another sheet taped on the back of it.
I took it off, and studied the drawing. It was of a woman looking up, and stretching towards the sky, her hair flying backwards. There were barely visible lines going out from all of her body, making it look like she was shining like the sun. And there were fireflies and leaves flying all around her. I studied the face, and could see it was very similar to Joanna’s.
I sat there just looking at it for a while, resting my left elbow on the chair, and cupping my chin with my left hand. After a while, I found some thumbtacks, and putting it up on the wall. And then I remembered the folded paper that had been stuck to the back of it.

I sat back down in my chair, and pulled it out from where it had almost disappeared under all the sheets again. I opened it, and saw that there were lyrics written on it. There was a lot of it that was crossed over, and then written over again on different places, and numbers telling me in which order the different parts came in. I felt my eyebrows furrow in confusion as I read through it. The lyrics were dream-like, and I thought of how much the lyrics and the picture fit together.
As I studied it closer, I could see that it was Joanna’s handwriting, and that down at the bottom of it, I could see that she had signed it with her initials ‘J.W.J.’ and I smiled a little as I stood up, and headed out of my study.

I was down in the basement in a couple of minutes, and I went to the studio. Sitting down at the synthesiser, I put the lyrics up on the sheet holder, and quickly found a pen and a note sheet as the melody came to me as if in a dream.

If you use it, subscribing would be nice, but is not necessary Just so you know, I made some mistakes when I played it in the video, and I’ve corrected those in the sheet music, so the sheet music might not sound exactly the same as my video.

The Lord has told us He will always be with us.. what an awesome thing to remember, and sometimes we just need to be reminded of that fact.
My piano cover played by ear of “By Your Side” by Tenth Avenue North…great song, just discovered it recently and fell in love with it.
