Huangger’s real-life version:

Both pianists are from Jay’s new film, Secret: Jay in white suit with black piano, Yu Hao in black suit with white piano. This is a mash-up of Bach’s Prelude in C Minor, Jay’s Dragon Heel (逆鱗狂想曲), Jay’s Against the Grain (逆鱗 Ni Lin) and of course, Super Mario.
I did not transcribe the piano sheets myself. The name of the original transcriber is on the sheets. Thanks go to him!

Super Mario World – Air Platform Level (Music Notation)
I’ve been seeing this style of video floating around YouTube lately, and thought I’d make a contribution. I had no idea how to do this whole “record your screen” thing; it was fun to figure out. Anyway, enjoy!
Here are answers to some likely FAQs.
•Song credit: Koji Kondo, Super Mario World
•Emulator: ZSNES 1.51
•Sound recording: Sony Sound Forge 9.0e
•Notation processor: Noteworthy Composer 1.75c
•MP3 compiler: Pistonsoft Direct MIDI to MP3 3.0.10.0
(using Soundfont 8MBGMSFX.SF2)
•Transcription tools: Ears and fingers for the win. =D
•Video recorder: Zeallsoft Super Screen Recorder 4.0
•Video compiler: Windows Movie Maker 2.1.4026
•Why this song?
- Well, I had already transcribed it a few years ago. Since then, I’ve seen a lot of people try to play it on piano videos, and many more attempts to produce MIDI transcriptions; and though many of them are terrific attempts, I am still confident that mine is a closer note-for-note match than the others I’ve heard. I have dozens of other NES and SNES songs transcribed, but most other songs aren’t quite as simplex as a lonely ragtime piano grand staff. More staves = more complicated video stuff. I wanted to produce this as quickly and simply as possible, so this tune was a fitting choice.
•Is your sheet music available?
- No. For a few reasons. One: This transcription of the song is not actually playable by one person. If you look at :45 into the video, there’s no way that can be played honestly, by one pair of hands. I didn’t try to write this as a playable, readable arrangement–only as a transcription. Two: It was enough to figure out how to make this video. I’m not really interested in learning how to make PDFs or other readable/printable formats. If you really want the music, either send me the message and we can discuss it, or you can just pen and paper it right off this video. Three: I transcribed this for fun. Transcribing is fun and it leaves you with a sense of accomplishment at the end of a hard day’s work. I encourage you to sweat out the work to transcribe/compose your own music, and hone that skill. I wasn’t going to post this video because in a way it deflates the value of learning to transcribe, but you all are wise enough to make your own decisions. However, I’m pretty certain this is the only notation video I’ll be doing. If you want to know what other stuff I’ve transcribed, feel free to send a message.
Cheers!

Mario on Sax
[update July 29th 2008]
Seems that my site got canceled due to too much traffic so all sheet music will be down for the time being.
[update April 22nd 2008]
They’re back up. Sheet music for Mario and Tetris are back up. Please help donate so I can continue to host the music free.
Thanks,
TiM

[update]
For the month of March I will be hosting my sheet music from a website that I’m in the process of completing. Please do not hot link the sheet music directly but link to my sheet music page so I can some what keep track of how many people have visited, if I find even one direct link leaked out somewhere, I will remove the sheet music from the site [no questions asked] so please to don’t spoil it for everyone.

2nd Edit: A lot of people, i mean a lot of people, have been asking about sheet music so i’ll sum things up nice and easy.
I scored the music myself so i didn’t find or buy it anywhere. Due to the insufficient amount of time that i have to respond to everyone i will not be emailing sheet music anymore. On the other hand I will find a way to post it online somewhere so you can download it but i would like to know how many people have downloaded it. Once i’ve figured something out, i will have it available once again.
Edit: if you want the music… it would be best to message me and provide an email address it’s easier to sort out who to send it to
I felt like recording mario as part of my video collection even though i screwed up a grip of times, i guess that’s what happens when you memorize music and don’t play it for awhile… i’ll try to do the synch thing again with this one, i just need to find my original note for note, beat for beat, transcriptions that i made… now where did i put them… hmm…

Someone recommended finale notepad too
http://www.finalemusic.com/notepad/
Download sheet music from movies, video games, and tv series. Learn to modify the sheet music to transpose the notes to any instrument and print it out. Again if you can get sibelius or finale, it might be better =P.
